Medusa is a vastly misunderstood character of Greek and Roman mythology. She was the original manhunter, cursed by Athena with a gaze so hideous, it would literally turn men to stone to gaze upon it. Male dominated stories see her as a monster, but she was a monster created by men. By being a strong, independent woman, she was abused and molested and driven to the madness that led to her curse.
