Artist's Description

It was an early morning over this inlet. The sky was gray and cloudy and this pelican was fishing at the far end. I waited for him to come my way for 15, maybe 20 minutes and had just put the lens cap back on and turned to walk away.

I hurriedly took off the cap and raised the camera just as he glided past me, firing off shot after shot. In this one, I caught him with his wings in a perfect glide - just barely touching the still water.
